This regulation was issued by the Ministry for Industry, Mines, and Trade (MIMT) to supervise the activities of cryptocurrency miners, including device imports, production, sales, and equipment maintenance. The regulation only allows cryptocurrency-related activities with the permission of the MIMT. The transfer of mining licenses must also be under the supervision of the Ministry. Obtaining the required energy for mining, importing necessary equipment for extraction or using cryptocurrencies instead of regular currency for importing goods are other reasons for these regulations.
The cryptocurrency regulations have been in place since 2020 and they have tried to not only monitor the performance of miners but also generate income for the government through taxation or creating a monopoly on equipment imports. With the implementation of these regulations and the nationalization of the mining process, this goal has been approached.
