Government Tightens Control, Ignoring Experts’ Calls for Global Engagement and Open Internet
Over the past month, internet policymakers in the Islamic Republic have intensified their control over internet access, adopting a more militarized approach and increasing state authority over this space through a tiered internet access model. In doing so, they have acted contrary to expert views of Majles researchers, who have advocated for global engagement and the removal of filtering to improve the country’s internet infrastructure.
